Aleppo Pepper

Aleppo Peppers originate in Syria and are considered an "endangered food" by Slow Food's Ark of Taste. Sprinkle on any dish you would normally use crushed red pepper or pepper flakes, though perhaps they will best complement Syrian dishes or recipes from the broader West Asian diaspora. They are known to range between 2,500 to 10,000 SHUs (Scoville heat units), so try a bit first to determine how much to use for your heat preferences. (By comparison, poblano peppers are usually 2,500 SHUs while jalapenos are usually 5,000 SHUs.)
